Preparation before Bearded Dragon Breeding 

• You need to prepare the conditions in the tank of bearded dragons to imitate winter season. The ultra-violet light should only be on for 10 hours instead of 14 hours and provide them with 14 hours of darkness. The amount of food you are used to feed them must also be reduced.
• The temperature should be dropped down up to 78 degrees only while the temperature must be about 67 degrees within the cooler side of the aquarium.
• These conditions should be maintained for approximately 6 weeks then you can resume the temperature and lighting.
• After this period, be sure to feed the dragons more than the usual. As you know, it is very important for them to add weight thus wax worms are ideal option for them.
• The pair should be separated when the feeding for about 4 weeks before putting them again together. It is also recommendable to put them together. Do not put two male dragons together for they may become hostile with each other.
• The female dragon will then show indication of being submissive by bobbing her head or waving her hand slowly. Then the male will start to chase her and try to mount her
• When the female is already fertile, which you can determine by seeing her adding some weight. The female dragon will then look for a place for laying eggs.
• Be sure to provide the female lizard a lay box that compost of garden soil and sand, which must be kept moist most of the times.

Bearded Dragon Breeding – What to do after The Eggs Are Laid?

The female bearded dragons will lay her eggs in a tiny hole, so be sure you know where you can get the eggs from and you must remove it by using a spoon. Avoid turning them, they should be placed immediately in an incubator.  You can buy a ready-made one or make your own. Be sure to keep the eggs at approximately 85 degrees. The eggs should also be moist and you can achieve this by putting a small container that contains water within the incubator and misting them often.

Bearded Dragon Breeding – Your new babies

When they are ready to come out of their shells, be sure to put them into their individual tank called a rearing tank. The baby bearded dragon should be fed 3 times a day.
